Hyatt & Weber worked with Annapolis’ City Council, City departments and commissions to obtain zoning modifications for a new restaurant development project in the Historic District.
Bringing New Tastes To Historic Downtown
Project: Kyma
Goal: Client sought to purchase and renovate an existing building to establish a new restaurant in Annapolis' Historic District.
Strategy: Hyatt & Weber counseled the client through the contract of sale, feasibility assessment, and closing on the property. While plans for Kyma were in their early phases, the Firm lobbied the Annapolis City Council on zoning legislation to make the redevelopment project possible. Hyatt & Weber obtained a 2 a.m. alcoholic beverage license for the establishment and secured a waiver to off-street parking requirements. Later, to meet Kyma's changing needs, the Firm coordinated a special exception application to allow for live entertainment at the restaurant. Hyatt & Weber worked with Annapolis' Department of Planning and Zoning, the Planning Commission, and the community to obtain favorable recommendations for the proposed zoning modification. The Firm won approval for the project from the City's Board of Appeals.
Results: Kyma is thriving, bringing contemporary Mediterranean cuisine to Annapolis' Inner West Street corridor.
